On Monday, Red Sox Nation was delighted to hear that Jon Lester had signed a five-year $30 million with the Red Sox. However, it turns out that Jon Lester did not in fact make the mistake of signing long-term for less than he's worth.
ESPN made the mistake, quoting Yahoo! Sports on an erroneous report. Is this really what mainstream media is becoming, even in sports?

Yeah, I guess a mid-rotation starter is worth a little more than 6 million a year.
when you think about it, what is a young lefty who is a proven winner in pressure situations (See: Cancer or World Series), with an explosive fastball, solid breaking pitches, and a sledgehammer of an outpitch really worth these days?
Name me more than five teams where Lester would not be a top 2 starter (I haven't gone through this team-by-team, but I think the list will be pretty short).
